Joint International Decade of Indigenous Languages and International Mother Language Day Conference

The Venue

The Caraga State University-Main Campus is nestled in a 232-hectare area, thirty-two (32) hectares of which is allocated for academic buildings and support facilities, including a Gymnasium (currently renovated). The remaining two hundred (200) hectares of land is for the University's production, research, and extension projects.

Moreover, the CSU-HERO Learning Commons Library stood on a 7,200 sq. meter space catering to more than 2,000 guests and hailed as the Biggest State University Library in Mindanao and awarded as the Most Innovative Library Design in the Philippines by the Philippine Association of Academic and Research Librarians (PAARL). The innovative library is integrated with technology solutions that minimize face-to-face contact when patrons return borrowed books and are built with several offices, reading books, an auditorium, conference rooms equipped with an RFID access control with a 75” interactive board for meetings, and other state-of-the-art facilities. In addition, the HERO learning commons have a library monitoring system that gathers information and generates library usage data and reporting.

Call for Submission

The Conference Secretariat is now accepting proposals for individual and panel text- and non-text based/performative presentations, and roundtable discussions. The deadline for submission for the first call is November 23, 2023. The Steering Committee may extend the call for submission when warranted. To encourage diversity in submissions, panel proposals should be composed of presenters coming from different but complementary areas of specialization working on a common theme or multiple themes under any of the tracks. The Conference Review Committee may group individual proposals into a panel.

The United Nations General Assembly’s declaration of the period between 2022 and 2032 as the International Decade of Indigenous Languages (IDIL 2022-2032) draws attention to the critical situation of indigenous languages and communities in the face of continuing endangerment and displacement due to conflicts of varying origins, economic and political instabilities, and the more serious danger posed by unmitigated climate risks that will have dire consequences in the long term.
